About the Company

The Home Depot is built on self-reliance. Founders Bernie Marcus and Arthur Bank left their old posts at an aging home improvement shop and realized the vision of a home improvement store that not only provided parts and tools, but knowledge and expertise, a helping hand that could not only sell a product, but teach a skill. Intern Reviews

  • “The Home Depot has a company atmosphere that values creativity, teamwork, and personal growth and is open to everyone. People are encouraged to be themselves at work because the setting is both lively and friendly. Work-life balance is very important to the company, so they offer open hours and know how important it is to take time for personal growth and well-being.”
  • “This internship is amazing; the culture at The Home Depot is unmatched, and the workplace environment is innovative yet manageable. Interns are expected to work 40 hours/week, but everyone at the company is super understanding of personal/life obligations.”
  • “It was a wonderful work environment with a lot of respect for each other. Team members were always willing to help with any issues and point you to the right resources to help with your project. I worked 8 hours, and my manager was always in touch to make sure I was doing okay and to help with any troubleshooting.”
  • “I work 8-5, and my team is huge on making sure everyone has a work/life balance. Each Monday/Friday, we talk about our weekends, and throughout the week, we talk about any plans we have for later in the day. By doing so, we have been able to all connect with one another not as coworkers, but as friends.”

Why Intern Here

The pandemic shifted our summer plans, but it also gave us a chance to show our interns how we solve problems, think creatively, and adapt to unexpected situations. From the comfort of their screens, our interns met company leaders, collaborated with each other on major projects, and even had game days to get to know each other.

Our interns own projects from start to finish. As the 12 weeks fly by, they apply what they know, pick up new skills, and collaborate with people across the company to make their projects come to life. It’s a great way to meet our leaders and learn valuable leadership lessons from some of the best in the business.

The 2024 Internship is May 13, 2023 through July 26, 2024.

Getting Hired Here

  • “The application process was very smooth, easy, professional, and timely.”
  • “The team got back to me in a reasonable time frame, and they communicated well throughout the process. Additionally, everyone was friendly and did a good job explaining the next steps.”
  • “The standards were high in fielding applicants. Every question asked during the interview was one that made me think deeply to decipher a clear and thoughtful answer.”
  • “I had two sets of interviews. An initial one was a one-on-one, where I was asked more personal questions about schooling, life, and job experience. Then a second one, which was a panel interview consisting of two other candidates and five interviewers, where we were given a challenge related to software engineering and tasked to solve it with the other two candidates.”
